It seems like years since the BBC's Eastenders has featured a Jewish character. Well, the reason for that is because, it is at least six years since Felix The Barber left. You could of course include Dr Legg returning for a couple of episodes about three years ago, but he wasn't back as a regular.
Anyway... Eastenders had a new Jewish character on Tuesday night, albeit a very supporting role.
While Billy Mitchell was having a bit of a fracas on a tube train, one of the passengers happened to be sporting a yarmulke. No name was given for this person, nor did he have any speaking part.
He just played a backing image role. And what a wonderful protrayal this actor played of a Jew on a tube. Probably the best I have ever seen.
Well done BBC for realising Jews use the tube.
