Just been having a thought. It is a rather simplistic one. We have much more in common with Muslims and Muslims have much more common with us than we have that separates us.
From Abraham to even food, there is much that binds us together.
Working on the basis on what we have in common, what grassroots initiative are there that the average Muslim and Jew can be part of?
If both the Board of Deputies and the Muslim Council of Britain are there to represent their respective communities, why have they yet to organise a joint community event?
I remember going along to an event organised by London Mayor Ken Livingstone a couple of years and I recall both Jews and Muslims there. But they didn't really talk to each other. A shame really. There was even kosher and halal food as well to make sure no one went hungry.
Is there much dialogue really going on between our respective communities and if there is, does anyone know about it?
At this time of year when both Jews and Muslims are having holy days, where are the joint events?
Why hasn't the Board of Deputies wished well the Muslim community during Ramadan and likewise, why hasn't the Muslim Council of Britain wished the Jewish community well during Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
Anyway, on behalf of Jews in Britain, let me wish the Muslim community Ramadan mubarak.
