Looks like Jewish gay Americans are not too keen on the man who has been appointed as the Jewish community liaison to President George Bush.
According to Blogactive which seeks to highlight and out gay people it considers are not advancing the cause of the gay community, Jeff Berkowitz has been involved in various anti-gay groups and organisations.
On the comments section on Blogactive, critics have been very vocal with many calling Berkowitz a "traitor" and "hypocrite". And others have also commented on how Berkowitz has been involved with the Boy Scout Movement despite the fact it doesn't allow gay leaders.
At the time of his appointment, Rabbi Levi Shemtov, Washington director of American Friends of Lubavitch said: "Jeff knows the community somewhat and is eager to learn more at this point. But what probably matters more is how close he is to the president.”
Is it really a problem if someone from the Jewish gay community works with the Bush administration? Does that make them a hypocrite? Or should their sexuality come first before a job role?
